Just close your eyes…
Dreamachine is inspired by an extraordinary 1959 invention by artist Brion Gysin, which used flickering light to create vivid illusions, patterns and explosions of colour in the mind of the viewer.
Now, 60 years later, Collective Act has brought together Turner Prize-winning collective Assemble, Grammy-nominated musician Jon Hopkins and a host of pioneering scientists and technologists to reimagine Gysin’s concept as a ground-breaking new programme that includes a kaleidoscopic collective experience, a UK wide schools programme and one of the largest scientific studies of its kind looking at how we see the world around us.
Presented for free in Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh and London, the 21st-century Dreamachine will lead you through an immersive environment of light and sound that’s as rich and dazzling as any digital simulation, yet created by you.
This world will come from within, providing a magical insight into the astonishing power of our own minds.
