UNBOXED was with The Poetry Society and the British Council Malaysia at the George Town Literary Festival in Penang in November to launch a collaboration that will see poets from the UK and Malaysia respond to the themes of About Us. The new work coming out of the project will be presented at the 2023 George Town Literary Festival next November.
On Saturday 26 November, Poetry Society Director Judith Palmer and UNBOXED Senior International Producer Katie Popperwell were in conversation, talking about the Society’s creative and educational work on the About Us commission, and on Sunday 27 November, Judith Palmer announced the collaboration at the closing ceremony of the Festival.
Audiences were invited to watch a screening of the About Us film and see displays of the commissioned poems by poets including Khairani Barokka, Stephen Sexton, Llŷr Gwyn Lewis, Jason Allen-Paisant and Jen Hadfield.
