Have you ever listened to whale song and wondered what it means?

Designed for pupils aged 11–18, this learning resource uses Kyle Lovell’s poem The Sunken Cathedral (winner of a Poetry Society competition for young poets) as a base to explore the relationship between humans and marine life.

Discussion prompts on the five-page learning resource consider how whales live and interact in the oceans, and how human activity has a direct effect on their lives and their health. The PDF also contains writing prompts to help pupils create their own poem in response.
