This simple card game introduces pupils to six plants that can be grown in UK gardens – from lettuce to lemon balm, chives to kohlrabi.

Each plant card contains details of how long the plant takes to grow, how many vitamins it contains, how many medicinal uses it has, and so on. Then in ‘Top Trumps’ style, each player must try to beat their opponent in their chosen category. Available as a free downloadable PDF, the cards can be printed on any printer and stuck on to cardboard (e.g. a cereal box) to create the game – and you can make your own plant cards using the template provided.

The Top Plants game is inspired by Dandelion, a creative celebration of growing, music and community, and was created with medical student Jamie Cairn, a volunteer with Keep Scotland Beautiful.
