Duration

60 minutes

This 60-minute lesson programme focuses on colour and how we understand it. It contains activities and discussions prompts that will help pupils aged 11–13 to understand that what colour something can look like can be highly variable – and they will then also create their own optical illusions to discover if colours always are what they appear to be.

Developed for Dreamachine by A New Direction with the British Science Association, this 12-page lesson plan includes prompts for questions and discussions, plus links and resources for further learning.
