Wellbeing and resilience Identity and diversity
This lesson plan for pupils aged 5–7 demonstrates the importance of breathing to our wellbeing. The lesson plan is centred on a short activity sequence that focuses on the art of breathing, and explores how our breath is affected by everything we do. As pupils begin to visualise their breath, they will better understand breathing as a unique means of expression and self-awareness – and will learn how to manage their emotions by changing the rhythm of their breath.
Exploring My Emotions is part of Me & My Wellbeing, a set of five 60-minute learning resources for pupils aged 5–11 that explore key personal development themes. Developed for Dreamachine by A New Direction, this nine-page PDF lesson plan includes plenty of prompts for discussions, plus links and resources for further learning.
