What are emotions, and which ones do I feel most often?

This lesson plan invites pupils aged 5–7 to explore their emotions – thinking about how they feel, and considering how others around them might be feeling. Through role-playing exercises and discussions, pupils will learn to recognise and name different feelings and understand better what makes them unique – contributing to a greater sense of wellbeing and self-worth.

Exploring My Emotions is part of Me & My Wellbeing, a set of five 60-minute learning resources for pupils aged 5–11 that explore key personal development themes. Developed for Dreamachine by A New Direction, this eight-page PDF lesson plan includes plenty of prompts for discussions, plus links and resources for further learning.
