GALWAD is a story set thirty years in the future which will unfold across TV drama, digital platforms and live events in three Welsh locations— Blaenau Ffestiniog, Merthyr Tydfil and Swansea over seven days.
On 26 September 2022 - an electrical storm breaks dramatically over Wales. The unthinkable happens - time cracks, the future makes contact.
Efa, a 16-year-old girl from Merthyr Tydfil, claims that more than just messages have made it through from 2052 – she has swapped with her 46-year-old self from 2052. As we follow her live journey across Wales over seven days, she and her teenage friends battle with the dilemma of what to do when faced with your own future. What does 2052 have to tell us and will we listen?
Follow the story as it unfolds from 26 September across social media and the GALWAD website which are taken over by Tomos W. Jones, a reporter who has spent the last 15 years investigating unexplained phenomena and communications networks and everything in between. Tomos works out of Blaenau Ffestiniog, North Wales and is bi-lingual.
In his first blog (which you can view here), Tomos sets out that during a solar flare in July, people claimed to receive messages from the future. Tomos warns us there’s another solar flare due in a couple of weeks. Residents of Blaenau Ffestiniog have reported receiving messages from “30 years in the future”. The identities of the recipients are being kept secret, but according to sources who’ve heard the call, they all come from people claiming to be communicating from the year 2052.
If you miss anything across the week you can watch the story unfold on Sky Arts for free on 2 October 2022 from 4.30pm.
